CHELSEA DUO LEAD PFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR SHORTLIST

Chelsea duo Eden Hazard and influential midfielder N'golo Kante form for Antonio Conte side this season have be recognised with nomination for PFA player of the year.

Both players were joined by Alexis Sanchez, Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the list.

N'golo Kante was shortlisted for the award last season for the part he played in helping Leicester to lift the Premier League last season but he did not make the final three.

Kante is  a clear favorite to win the gong but he face strong competition from team mate Eden Hazard.

Hazard picked the award two years ago when Chelsea won the league under Jose Mourinho and he could be in line to win it for the second time when the winner is announced on April 23.

Man United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic 17 goals this season has not gone unnoticed with the Swede veteran taking to English football when others think he will flop.

Sanchez has been the only shinning light in what has been a disappointing season for Arsenal scoring 18 times for the Gunners amid reports linking him with a move away from the Emirates.

Everton forward Romelu Lukaku who leads the goalscoring chart is also in contention but it remain likely that he will have to settle for the Golden Boot Award.

Harry Kane 19 goals for Tottenham this season has made sure Chelsea don't have a clear ride to the title with Spurs seven points behind the Blues.

The notable absentee is Tottenham young midfielder Dele Alli who has been in sensational form this season with 16 goals to his name this season.

But the 21 year-old is will have to battle with Romelu Lukaku, Leroy Sane, Jordan Pickford, Michael Kaene and Harry Kane for the PFA young player of the year.
