Manchester United have allowed Bastian Schweinsteiger to join MLS side Chicago Fire for free.
The 32 year-old has been out of favour at Old Trafford and have been playing with
the club's under 21.
The World Cup winner was considered a good signing for United when joined only last summer from Bayern Munich.
But due to loss of form and injuries Schweinsteiger has been a bit part player for Jose Mourinho side and last appeared for the club against St Etienne in the Europa League on Febuary 22.
Schwiensteiger is expected to link up with his new team mates next week after signing a contract that guarantees him 4.5 million dollars in 2017.
